Formal study propels career*

Ken’s career propelled after completing a graduate certificate in information systems.

When Human Resources Systems coordinator, Ken Dwyer decided it was time to upskill, he turned to CQUniversity’s Graduate Certificate in Information Systems.

“I have been working in human resources systems for a number of years but didn’t have any higher education in the information technology field.

“I decided it would be great to take my years of experience and get the qualifications to back them up for further career opportunities.”
Dwyer completed the Graduate Certificate in 2018 and said it allowed him to gain a much more detailed understanding of the fundamentals of information systems.

“It really connected things together and helped develop my research and academic examination of options or recommendations at work.
Dwyer said that although studying the course largely online, he felt well-supported throughout his studies.

“Whenever I reached out to any of my lecturers about clarification of assessments or feedback, they were really responsive.

“I found the University provided great information about what was on offer and services and support available to me.

“Navigating Moodle for my learning content was really straight forward, the lecturers answered questions quickly and I engaged with other students through forums to work together on assessments or to answer questions.

“As a result of completing the graduate certificate, I have been able to tackle significant project work with the knowledge and expertise I gained in my qualification which has allowed me to excel in my career,” Dwyer said.
