A blustery day didn’t dampen the spirits on Sunday 20 September, of the 160 or so people who attended the opening of the Greenhills Heritage Trail, York, just beyond the fringes of Perth.

Funding from Lotterywest, York and Districts Community Bank® Branch of Bendigo Bank, Shire of York and Greenhills Progress Association, with in-kind support by the Anglican Diocese of Perth and the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage and the Marwick family helped to bring the joint project between Greenhills Progress Association and the Council to reality.

Many years of history-research by Greenhills Progress Association volunteers is now on show in an exciting new professionally designed walk trail in two easy sections of Grade 1 track, suitable for all ages and abilities.

The trail is now live on TrailsWA and has been designed to link with a self-drive tour.

This trail forms part of the Shire of York Trails Masterplan 2019 which aims to cement York’s position as a Trail town offering a wide range of high quality trails as well as related services, facilities, businesses, strong branding and
supportive governance.

The Trails Master Plan has been developed to guide future strategic investment in trails recreation, tourism and event development and reflects the aspirations of the shire to become an economically, environmentally and socially sustainable trails destination.
