In response to the recent bushfires, Wollondilly Library’s Childrens Team has been supporting the community by delivering specially designed storytime sessions to assist children with their emotional recovery.

The library has also been providing families with information about support and services to assist them with the physical and emotional impacts of the bushfires.

Mayor, Matthew Deeth, said, “The special storytime sessions have been developed further in response to the recent floods.

“The library staff have modelled and facilitated discussion between parents and their children to assist our communities smallest people deal with big emotions.”

The library staff have contacted preschools in the fire affected towns and offered an outreach special fire storytime session, which has been welcomed by the centres.

The library is also taking storytime to various locations throughout the Shire. Storytime sessions are being held each Tuesday at the Wollondilly Community Health Centre in Tahmoor.
