Wondering if new bigger trucks will impact on your roads?*
The 2016 National Local Roads and Transport Congress is shaping up to be one of the year’s most interesting events.
The Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) has recently released details of a demonstration, to be held in conjunction with the Congress, of a number of high productivity vehicles and their maneuvering capabilities as well as a tour of some of Toowoomba’s recent major infrastructure developments.
The demonstration will showcase the superior productivity and safety benefits of modern innovative heavy vehicles and the difference they can make to viability of local businesses and productivity. The demonstration will highlight the improved capabilities, compared to traditional heavy vehicle combinations, of vehicles certified through the Performance Based Standards (PBS) scheme.
The demonstration will include a presentation, a moving display and an inspection of the vehicles, providing a great opportunity for council representatives to discuss the heavy vehicle needs of their economies with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and the transport operators that use these vehicles.
Toowoomba is currently experiencing an influx of major infrastructure developments. Following the construction of the Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport, the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing and Inland Rail Project and the development of the Toowoomba Enterprise Hub, Toowoomba is set to become a major transport and logistics hub of Queensland and Australia.
