Janine Speedy, Strategic Planner at Moonee Valley City Council, has been awarded the Maddocks Local Government Young Planner Award for 2014.

Janine was presented with the recognition at the firm’s recent Planning & Environment Christmas Party.

Each year Australian law firm Maddocks grants the Local Government Young Planner Award to a candidate who demonstrates an outstanding achievement in the field of planning and environment.

The recipient receives $5000 grant, with other components to be awarded from time to time at the discretion of the Maddocks planning and environment partners, such as a contribution towards further studies or attendance at an industry event.

‘This year, Janine has undertaken a broad range of strategic projects,” said Partner at Maddocks Mimi Marcus.

“Her research skills and diligence in knowing her subject matter have proved invaluable on significant projects for Moonee Valley City Council.

“Her work with Essendon Airport has been particularly impressive, requiring Janine to become an expert in the legislative framework applying to
airport requirements.

“In this regard, Janine has become the ‘go to’ person in Council for any matter relating to the airport.

“Yet again this year, we received a great number of high calibre nominations.

“We congratulate and acknowledge Janine’s fellow nominees on the contribution they each have made in their respective councils.”
