Bridging the gap*

Sell and Parker Equipment has unused ex-military bridging systems for sale or rental.

Bridges are assembled from fully galvanised steel components in specified arrangements and connected by high strength pins and bolts to form truss bridge spans from ten to 70 meters.

The bridges capacity is rated 2 by T44, and are 7.3 meters wide between kerbs.

Designed by Australian company Cardno and manufactured by RPC Technologies to Australian Defence Force specifications, these bridges are suitable for permanent crossings or temporary installations.

The system can be assembled rapidly on the home bank by either crane lifting the frame into position, or progressively launched into position by rolling out over the crossing.

Establishment, transport and dismantling can be arranged with pricing dependent on location and conditions.

As an indication, a 15-meter bridge will take less than five days to construct with three staff and a five-tonne 4WD forklift.

Depending on launching equipment, reinforcing and ramp size, the entire bridge will fit on three to four semi-trailers.

They have installed a 25-meter bridge at a quarry in Bungonia and have erected a 15-meter bridge with ramps at a Newcastle facility.
