Studio 22 – new space for community groups

The Civic and Community Hub in Darley, in Victoria’s Shire of Moorabool, now offers a specially developed space for community groups, with the official opening of Studio 22.

The new room has been designed to provide a practical and inviting space for a variety of programs and services to the community, and is shared by Moorabool Shire Council’s Maternal and Child Health service, Youth Services, Best Start, and Aged & Disability services.

Studio 22 is currently being utilised by New Parent Groups, Emotional Wellbeing groups, Imagination Magic, the Moorabool Young Parents Group, 1-2-3 Magic, the Connect and Play Playgroup, MAST and the Youth Advisory Group, The Avenue Program, Kidz Club, and Teenage and Explorer groups.

The Studio 22 development has offered a wonderful opportunity for a range of Moorabool Shire Council community service units to work together to create a flexible multi-use space, and to share equipment and resources. All the feedback from the community and staff who have used the room has been very positive.

In addition to significant internal works to the Darley Civic and Community Hub, major improvements were carried out to improve the gymnasium, the commercial kitchen and external facilities, including the oval, a new playground, barbeque area and sheltered community facility.

Car parks and access roads have been asphalted, native trees have been planted, and a new stormwater harvesting system has been installed for irrigation.

The upgraded sportsground - now open to the public - is used by the Bacchus Marsh Soccer Club for junior training and by the Darley Cricket Club throughout the summer season for both junior and senior cricket training and competition.
