Letter to the editor: Thanks from Murrindindi
On behalf of Murrindindi Shire Council and our community, we extend our thanks to the Australian Local Governments and communities who have given so generously in the aftermath of the bushfires in our Shire.
Your support, and the support of the State and Federal Governments, has been overwhelming.
Our communities are travelling a hard road, but one that is not insurmountable.
The loss we feel for family, friends, homes and animals will stay forever in our hearts and minds.
We know we are here to help and support each other through these most devastating times. This kindness and support has given us and still provides us all with strength and hope. We are on the road to rebuilding and with your generosity and assistance we will rebuild our communities.
Those communities will not be the same as before, as they could never be.
They will show the courage and commitment we have to make a new life after the tragedy we have been through. A life that brings hope, joy, peace, comfort and the strength of new formed friendships from near and far.
It will take many years to rebuild our towns and hamlets and we will do this together through your ongoing help and support.
Once again, our most sincere thanks for all you have done for us.
Mayor Lyn Gunter
