Thumbs up for new playgrounds
Children in Snowy Monaro, New South Wales, have given two new playgrounds the ‘thumbs-up’ following their official opening last month.
Mayor, John Rooney, joined councillors Sue Haslingden, Rogan Corbett and James Ewart along with local school students to officially launch the new Bombala Playground and Nijong Ninja Park in Cooma.
The playgrounds were delivered through the Stronger Communities Fund Major Projects Program.
Mayor Rooney said the playgrounds were a wonderful asset to the local communities.
“The [Bombala] launch was very well attended. It was great to have the community come along to celebrate the official opening of this exciting playground.”
The Double Sky Rider flying fox proved the most popular piece of equipment, while the spinner and the all abilities swing came
a close second.
At grand opening of the Nijong Ninja Park, which features a climbing wall, in-ground trampoline, and a xylophone, students from local schools showcased their ninja skills.
“We look forward to unveiling more playgrounds and projects through the Stronger Communities Fund,” Mayor Rooney said.
Cr Ewart said it was fantastic for young families to have access to such playgrounds in the region, ‘and the Nijong Ninja Park is one of the best’.
“It is great to see this investment in the Snowy Monaro.”
