Key users inform redevelopment

Central Reserve key users will be invited to be part of a project reference group to advise Colac Otway Shire Council on the redevelopment of Colac’s premier recreation reserve.

Councillor Brian Crook has been appointed Chair of the group and said it was a great opportunity for those using the facility to be part of its design.

“Council is currently seeking tenders for design services for several components of the redevelopment, including a new grandstand building, refurbishment of the existing grandstand and the netball change space.

“By developing a detailed design we will be able to call for tenders for construction.

“It’s very important that those who regularly use this facility have a say in the design of the redevelopment.”

The key users to be on the reference group include Colac Football Netball Club, Colac and District Football Netball League, Colac and District Football League Netball Association, Colac Otway Rovers and Colac and District Football Umpires Association.

These groups are the key users of the off-field buildings.

The Federal Government has committed $2.5 million to the project, and Council is continuing to lobby the Victorian Government to match the funding.

“The Federal Government commitment allows us to start works on some of the off-field facilities, which user groups have previously identified as a priority.

“It will be great to get important input from key users, and further consultation will also take place with the Central Reserve Advisory Committee which comprises a broader range of clubs and groups which use the facilities.”
