Rock e Plan

Rockhampton Regional Council’s Rock e Plan is poised to become Council’s one stop shop for all things planning.

The online planning portal was launched as part of the community consultation period for the proposed Rockhampton Region Planning Scheme.

Using the ICON PlanningXchange PLAN module, Rock e Plan marked significant progress for the project team consisting of Council’s planning officers, IT officers and ICON consultants.

The initial launch of Rock e Plan focused on providing the community with a more interactive online functionality to view and make a submission on the proposed Planning Scheme during the public consultation period.
Prior to this, users were constrained to viewing the planning scheme components via Council’s website in multiple sectioned PDF documents and static mapping.

The introduction of Rock e Plan provides a platform for more interaction including:

  • viewing and browsing the entire proposed Planning Scheme through the online planning portal; and
  • making an online submission on specific sections of the proposed Planning Scheme during public consultation.

Another significant driving force to the improvement in functionality is Council’s interactive mapping service found within Rock e Plan.

For the first time, thousands of proposed Planning Scheme maps are available through the interactive online mapping service imbedded in the Rock e Plan.

Opportunities for expanding the software includes adding an enquire function to view relevant planning information for a chosen property and a track function for the development application process are also in the works.
