Sustainability Award for Architecture

Melton Library and Learning Hub wins architecture award.

The Melton Library and Learning Hub has been named the winner of the Sustainability Award by the Victorian Institute of Architects at a recent awards ceremony in Melbourne.

City of Melton Mayor, Councillor Bob Turner said it was a great thrill to win the award.

“This award acknowledges the thought and innovation that went into the sustainable design and build of this tremendous community asset.

“The Melton Library and Learning Hub is an outstanding, landmark building that enhances civic pride and will service our great community for many years to come.

“We hope that the Library and Learning Hub will also inspire other organisations to new levels of environmental sustainability and efficiency when embarking on similar projects.”

The Melton Library and Learning Hub is the first completed building in Australia to achieve a Five Star Green Star - Public Building Design PILOT rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.

The winners of the State Awards will go on to compete against other states and territories in the National Awards.
