Business winners stand out

Great leadership by businesses in the areas of sustainability and environmental performance were awarded at the City of Belmont’s Business Environmental Awards on the 25th October.

The 2012 Belmont Business Environmental Awards are awarded to local businesses that have demonstrated achievements in the areas of recycling and waste reduction, water management, TravelSmart, energy conservation, emission reduction, and light industry, which are all seen as priorities in an area in close proximity to the Swan River.

City of Belmont Mayor, Phil Marks, said that all businesses in the City should look to the local winners as a strong example of how to carry out business in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way.

“This is the sixth year we have presented the Awards and I would like to congratulate this year’s winners for the significant environmental achievements they have implemented in their businesses,” said Mayor Marks.

“The winners, City East Alliance (CEA), Sealy, Kone Elevators and Argyle Diamonds, have each shown great leadership and initiative in their category areas,” said Mayor Marks.

“The City remains committed to continuously improving its involvement in environmental initiatives and being a leader in conservation and the Awards are one of the ways the City acknowledges the great leadership of our businesses,” said Mayor Marks.

“The City looks forward to continuing to work closely with local businesses to build a sustainable future for all.”
