Building on past successes IT2006

2006 marks the 8th year for the highly successful Local Government conference on IT organised by the Coffs Harbour City Council. Adam Young from Coffs Council, and one of the conference organisers since its inception, puts its success down to 'a great program and word of mouth'.

"We have been steadily growing since our inception in 1997 and we are committed to 'raising the bar' a little each year," Adam Young said. "The new venue - Novotel Pacific Bay Resort - has certainly helped us achieve this growth with fantastic resort facilities and sensational catering."

IT2006, is scheduled for 15-17 November 2006 in beautiful Coffs Harbour, New South Wales. The conference provides a forum for Local Government managers and support staff to network, learn and exchange ideas.

The theme for this year's conference is 'Necessity' - Getting the IT we need. The conference seeks to help the Local Government IT professional identify the real IT needs of your organisation and showcase solutions to fill them.

The presentations this year will focus on:

  • IT best practices
  • cutting edge and emerging IT technologies
  • Council case studies
  • industry and government trends
  • management skills and techniques
  • personal/professional growth and development.

This conference has grown and evolved into the premier Local Government IT event in Australia. Major sponsors for this year's conference are Telstra Countrywide, HP Australia and ESRI Australia.

Registration will shortly be available from the conference website at http://it2006.coffsharbour.nsw.gov.au/

Also included are case studies from a number of Councils that have implemented successful IT strategies and enlightening presentations from quality IT industry professionals. Conference organisers are currently calling for papers on the aforementioned topics from suitably qualified IT professionals, Local Government IT managers and relevant organisations.
