Agriculture a key industry

Agriculture is the key industry with milk, pork production, cereal crops, livestock, horticulture, citrus and viticulture. There are some 137,000ha of irrigated land in the Shire plus dry land areas. Gannawarra is rich in agricultural diversity and Council is extremely active in promoting new opportunities for agricultural production and processing.

Diversity is rife with dairy, cheese, tomatoes, onions, stonefruit, walnuts, jojoba, grains, legumes, aquaculture, citrus, timber, lamb, wool, deer, olives and vegetables grown throughout the Shire.

Major manufacturing industries include Murray Goulburn Dairy Cooperative, Mawsons Group, Dunstan Farmers Engineering, Macs Shortbreads, Border Packers, Archards Irrigation, Arbuthnot Sawmills, Automated Water Management Australia, Goulburn Murray Water, Ellwaste, Kerfab and Northern Herd Development.
