KABNA appoints new ChairFormer Mayor and current Councillor of Indigo Shire Council, Don Chambers has been appointed chair of Keep Australia Beautiful National Association (KABNA), Australia’s longest serving, community based environmental organisation. A board member of Eco-Recycle Victoria, the Victorian Local Governance Association and North-East Water, Councillor Chambers succeeds Molly Robson, former Queensland Environment Minister, as chair of KABNA. “Keep Australia Beautiful’s litter management and environmental improvement programs are an integral part of environmental management across Australia with more than 1,100 communities and 90,000 volunteers involved nationally,” Councillor Chambers said. “It’s a privilege to take on the responsibility of chair of KABNA and work with our new National Executive Officer, Scott Lyall, and our State offices in implementing the organisation’s programs for sustainable communities. “As an Australian residing in a rural area, the value and importance of organisations such as KABNA cannot be underestimated in its contribution to our rich social fabric. Sustainability has become a way of life and it’s up to each of us to make a difference. We need to stop thinking about fixing it and just do it.” |
