Email archiving consistent with good governanceNewly appointed Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of AXS-One Inc, Bill Lyons brings extensive experience from a long and distinguished career in the IT sector, further supporting the appointment of David Thompson to the local subsidiary early in 2003. AXS-One is the sixth software company Bill Lyons has headed up. Prior to becoming a CEO, he spent 18 years in sales and marketing with IBM. Worldwide AXS-One has 250 staff based in the USA, UK, Canada, South Africa, Singapore and Australia. “Our major product emphasis varies in each of these regions,” Bill Lyons said. “But our presence in the Local Government market sector is definitely strongest in Australia.” Bill Lyons believes that all companies and government organisations will soon be required to archive their emails for a specified period of time. “Storing emails and being able to produce them in reasonable time is consistent with good corporate governance,” he said. “The adaption of AXS-One’s financial software package for archiving and workflow management is a natural progression. “Establishing security levels and proper audit trails dovetails with the retention of documents required under records management compliance. We are already talking to several Local Governments in Australia keen to move along this path. They recognise this is part and parcel of good governance, and it will improve control of their operations.” The current email archive market is valued at $US177 million. It is predicted that this will multiply 14 times in the next four years to $US2.5 billion. “This area of the market is going to explode,” Bill Lyons said. “We have positioned our products to move with this trend and we are very excited about the opportunities.” |
