Green and Grow in Redland

A premier event of Redland Shire's 50th Anniversary celebrations will be the region's first major horticultural expo. It will be held at the Cleveland Showgrounds on October 30 and 31. Redland Green and Grow Expo, will showcase products and services of nurseries, and associated horticultural and environmental industries.

The event, the first in the region to focus entirely on horticulture and associated products, is expected to attract thousands of gardening and environmental enthusiasts. Mayor Eddie Santagiuliana said Redland is an ideal location for such a high profile event.

"This region has long been associated with horticultural excellence and, more recently, has been at the leading edge of research and innovation in this important industry," he said. "The Redland's horticultural industry continually demonstrates its leadership in research and development, both nationally and globally," he said.

The Expo will be sponsored by regional and local media. The Shire of Redland is encouraging local businesses to participate.

The Redlands offer a unique lifestyle and a remarkable environment. It has a growing army of volunteer bushcarers who look after public bushland in a labour of love. "Redland Shire Council leads the way in promoting 'state of the art' environmental solutions," the Mayor said.

To prove this point, Councillor Santagiuliana cited the Cleveland worm farm, Indigiscapes, the local indigenous botanical specimen park, and now Green and Grow as examples of projects which will all help to create a sustainable future for Redland.
