Encouraging pet owners to act responsibly*

Spot a Clean Dog™ is the developer and promoter of a new dog litter receptacle. It has been specifically designed to meet recent new requirements and obligations placed on Councils and dog owners by the NSW Companion Animal Act 1998. Under this Act, Councils are required, as of 1 December 1998, to provide special purpose rubbish receptacles in areas where dogs are exercised regularly.

The original Spot a Clean Dog collection bin** has been successfully trialed by Sutherland, Hornsby and Gosford Shires.

"The design is very appealing," said Sarah Dimon, Manager Environment and Health Regulation at Sutherland Shire. "Attractive to children and adults, we have included the bins as part of our school education program encouraging responsible pet ownership. At Council's recent Expo, the bins were also a great drawcard with many people saying they are an excellent idea for all parks.

"Modification after the initial trials has resulted in the newest model being easier to empty and more vandal proof."

Twelve other Councils have recently ordered the bins.

"The design provides instant recognition with a distinctive green colour, which will soon be as readily identifiable as Australia Post Mail Boxes are throughout the country," said Raphael Klaesi, Designer and Director, Spot a Clean Dog.

Easily serviced with an inner bin disposal unit, they are constructed of galvanised steel, zinc dipped and powder coated with a 75mm centre steel pole. The bins are designed and manufactured in Sydney.
