NZ does it again

North Shore City Council from New Zealand has won the 1997 Australasian final of the Active Learning Management Challenge.

Now in its fifth year, a New Zealand team has been successful on three occasions. This is a great record of achievement given that New Zealand provides only two of the eleven Australasian regional finalists.

Other regional finalists this year included Melville (WA), Logan and Mackay (Qld), Banyule (Vic), Newcastle and Kogarah (NSW), Jabiru and a combined Community Government Team (NT), Circular Head/Waratah-Wynyard/Burnie (Tas), Adelaide (SA) and Christchurch (NZ). Some 61 teams competed in what is now a very highly regarded professional development program.

"With over 360 individuals involved, I was very impressed with the standard of the teams," said Clive Fuhr, Director City Services and Captain of the North Shore Team. "It is a test of Local Government management skills and a test of team skills. It is a very rewarding experience and I urge others to get involved next year."
